Google Apps Are Kicking Microsoft Into Touch When It Comes To The Cloud

Here at Webster Consulting, we’re an authorised Google Apps reseller. We know how good Google Apps is for business. We see on a daily basis how Google is kicking Microsoft into touch when it comes to cloud technology.

Jonathan Brandon, writing for Business Cloud News adds fuel to the Google Fire by suggesting that Google Apps are now more popular than Office 365 in Enterprises and are on an even battlefield with Microsoft even amongst larger, older businesses.

Cloud security solutions vendor, Bitglass has published a report off the back of a sample of 81,253 companies. They found that an impressive 16.3% use Google Apps compared with 7.7% using Microsoft Office 365.

In organisations with more than 1,000 employees, it’s neck-and-neck for Google and Microsoft. We find this surprising, given that it’s likely that bigger organisations are also older organisations. Perhaps they’re stepping-away from the traditional legacy systems? We were expecting a historical loyalty to Microsoft. Clearly not!

It’s when you look at the tech-based businesses that it all becomes really interesting. A whopping 27% of tech companies with less than 1,000 employees used Google Apps compared with 10% using Microsoft. Just why is that?

It follows that tech-industry companies are more likely to be early-adopters when it comes to technology. They’re also more likely to choose the best solutions available to them. What is so special about Google Apps?
